The very first X-ray was that of a Hand with Ring. Taken 22 December 1895.
The hand is one very distinct body part that allows a great deal of precision required for eating, dressing, writing, sewing, and many other functions of ours. To do these activities, our hands are rich in nerve ending to allow delicate positioning, touching, and gripping. Our hands are very strong and sturdy, yet very mobile. Our thumb works as a post and as a grip at the same time. This requires a good bit of coordination. On top of that, our hands are weapons and first line of defense. Hand injuries and difficulties can significantly affect our functions of daily living.
